First Place in Sportsmanship

Meghan Vogel, having already won a race earlier in the day, was competing in the 3,200 metre race in the Ohio State High School Track meet when, as she came around the final corner in last place saw her fellow competitor Arden McMath fall. Instead of running by her to ensure that she would finish the race in last, Meghan did somethiung that few people would even consider doing. As she approached Arden, Meghan reached down helped her up, and walked with her towards the finish line. At the final steps, Meghan pushed Arden ahead of herself so that Arden wouldn’t finish the race in last. Truly awe inspiring to see someone put others ahead of themselves, even in competition.

Part Speed. Part Stamina. All Heart.
